Minister Madsen said: "European XFEL is one of the beacons of research and innovation in Schleswig-Holstein. The X-ray laser strengthens the state's competitiveness in science, technology and in the competition for the best minds. I am particularly looking forward to the opening of the visitor centre and the school laboratories next autumn. They will hopefully inspire many young people to engage with scientific and technical issues and perhaps also to pursue corresponding career paths that are of great importance for our future viability."
Robert Feidenhans'l explained: "I am delighted to welcome Minister Madsen here in Schenefeld today. The visit opens up the opportunity to make new contacts and further strengthen our commitment to research and innovation in Schleswig-Holstein. Together with our partners in the Alliance for Cutting-Edge Research Schleswig-Holstein and the future Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld, we want to make a significant contribution to this. Our facility not only connects the two federal states of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, but we are also actively working in both collaborations to improve the framework conditions for excellent research and to offer research institutions and start-up companies the best possible location conditions."
