Sysmex Europe will relocate its headquarters

Sysmex Europe plans new working environments in the new headquarters in Hamburg

The Sysmex Group, international manufacturer and provider of innovative analytical instruments and services for laboratory diagnostics, is on a continuous course of growth and innovation. To accommodate this development, Sysmex Europe will relocate its headquarters for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) from Norderstedt to Hamburg.

As part of this, the central organisation Sysmex Europe GmbH, together with the subsidiary Sysmex Deutschland GmbH, which is responsible for the German market, Sysmex Inostics GmbH – a specialist in personalised diagnostics in oncology – and the Sysmex RDCE (Research and Development Center Europe), will become a state-of-the-art office and laboratory building in Hamburg.

More than 12,300 m² will provide employees of the four companies with ample space and an inspiring working environment in one building. The building is geared towards a project-oriented and cross-organisational work culture, thus promoting flexible and agile collaboration.

“The new building is a clear commitment to Hamburg as a location for business and technology and a visible sign of Sysmex's sustainable and steady growth in the EMEA region. We are pleased to offer our existing employees and new talents a modern and inspiring working environment in a central location in the Hanseatic city", says Alain Baverel, President & CEO of Sysmex Europe GmbH.

In addition to a versatile and creative office environment, the planned district also offers the latest technological standards for increased hybrid collaboration. Combined with expanded options for mobile working, Sysmex offers its employees many advantages of a flexible working style.

A sizable training centre provides space for the Sysmex Academy, which will offer training for customers from the EMEA region as well as employee training. This is also where the digital content for the established online offering from Sysmex Academy is produced.

In the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, diagnostic analysis systems are available for research and development purposes and for field testing. Among other things, new processes and applications of Sysmex products will be tested and refined here.

“With the new building, our vision of a future-oriented and sustainable working environment will become a reality. Attractive premises will promote communication and creativity on site. State-of-the-art conference and communication technology and digital solutions break with fixed structures and enable new ways of customer-oriented cooperation", says Stefanie Schaal, Managing Director of Sysmex Europe GmbH.

The new work campus ‘Flow’ is being developed and realised in a joint venture between the two companies MATRIX Immobilien GmbH from Hamburg and Bayerische Hausbau GmbH & Co. KG from Munich. The building, which is being constructed according to the designs of the Hamburg architectural firm ‘Tchoban Voss’, is attractively located between the Alsterlauf and the Eppendorf Mühlenteich and impresses with its spacious, bright office and project rooms.

The building complex in the Hanseatic clinker brick style opens up via a promenade to the adjacent, landscaped surroundings. Attractive outdoor areas consisting of semi-open courtyards surround the ensemble and can be used as additional meeting spaces. Sustainable building technology, green roofs, intensive planting in the courtyards, protection of old trees and the creation of a biotope stand for high ecological quality.

The developers MATRIX Immobilien and Bayerische Hausbau had acquired an approximately 12,600 m² plot of land on the border between Alsterdorf and Eppendorf for the new work campus ‘Flow’ at the beginning of the year. “Sysmex is making the new work campus a hotspot for new working environments. The world market leader in haematology will enrich Hamburg's economy as a globally active company", says Martin E. Schaer, Managing Partner of MATRIX Immobilien.

We are delighted to have won Sysmex, such a forward-looking company, for our new work campus. With the building ensemble, which combines a high degree of digitalisation and innovative space concepts with ideas of tomorrow, we are creating an ideal environment for companies that want to enable their employees to work flexibly and creatively in an attractive working environment with links to the city centre and in the direct vicinity of the Alsterlauf", says Peter Müller, Managing Director of Bayerische Hausbau.

Under the project name ‘Flow’, a total of around 22,600 m² of office space is to be created in two building complexes connected via a shared campus. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2022. Sysmex was advised by Asset.RE (transaction) and legally represented by Hogan Lovells. MATRIX Immobilien and Bayerische Hausbau were legally represented by Heussen, lawyers based in Munich.
