The project P.I.L.O.T. (PrecisionMedicine | Innovations | LifeScience | Opportunities | Technologies) aims at the establishment of a network addressing innovations in digitisation of precision medicine within Schleswig-Holstein and the cluster Life Science Nord. All parts of the health sector shall be involved and the project does not only approaches digitisation itself, e.g. analysis of patient data, and its use in precision medicine. Of cause also solutions from medTech, biotech and pharma offering individual adaption without usage of digital components are parts of precision medicine. The project increases strength and interdisciplinarity in Northern Germany.
Regarding the health system, not only the dialogue between science and economy is extremely important. Implementation of therapeutic approaches into physician’s practice, involvement of regulatory authorities, reimbursement systems and patient organisations have to be tackled early within the innovation process.
Industry should be prepared for precision medicine for the future and enter collaborations with researchers and other parts of the health system at an early stage to stay competitive. Due to the complex structure of the overall system, it is often not easy to analyse and rate frame conditions and to adapt internal innovation processes alone, especially for SME. A network and multiplier like P.I.L.O.T. is able to support and pave those ways.
Project in a nutshell
Goals
- Exploitation of digital precision medicine (Involvement of both science and economy)
- Reinforcement and expansion of new knowledge-based business developments in the field of precision medicine
- Involvement of the health care system, science, SME’s and industry
- Classification of the economic landscape in Northern Germany and analysis of challenges and foci of interest
- Ascertainment via formation of cooperation projects and validating structures between science and economy
Matters
Identification of challenges and approaches to finding solutions with the core goal of economic development. Validation and discussion of results via feedback loop structures between participating sectors of the network and the health system. Generation of test beds or cooperation projects through the network.
