...the University of Hamburg, together with partners (including DESY, Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, Leibniz Institute of Virology, Research Center Borstel and the UKE), is applying for a fifth Cluster of Excellence of the German Research Foundation: “Gateways to Health: How pathogens shape global life”. The first hurdle has been cleared and work is now underway on the main application. The final funding decision will be made in 2025. The new federal and state funding line will begin in 2026 and run for seven years.

An interdisciplinary workshop with industrial companies will take place on February 6, 2025 (16:00-20:00, CSSB) in order to involve potential partners at an early stage. The workshop will enable exchange between leading minds from life sciences, medicine, ethics, politics, industry and society, bringing together biomedical and humanities perspectives for a holistic view of infectious diseases.

This event is supported by Helmholtz and organized by DESY and the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB), in cooperation with the cluster Life Science Nord and the project HIHeal.

Participation in the workshop is possible in various ways and at this stage potential participants from academia and industry are being contacted.
